Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the House of Councillors in collaboration with the South-South Parliamentary Cooperation Dialogue Forum and the Association of Senates, Shoora, and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World (ASSECA) organize the South-South Parliamentary Cooperation Conference on: "South-South Cooperation: The Role of National Parliaments and Regional and Continental Parliamentary Unions in Africa, The Arab World and The Latin American in Enhancing Strategic Partnerships, and Achieving Joint Integration and Joint Development", at the headquarters of the House of Councillors, on 15-16 February 2024.
The organization of this event is part of the Kingdom of Morocco's leadership, led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in launching and supporting all development and solidarity initiatives aimed at strengthening South-South cooperation, as well as in the context of implementing the “Rabat, Capital of South-South Cooperation” Declaration from the past South-South Parliamentary Dialogue Forum, which was organized under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and endorsed by the House of Councillors and the ASSECA, on 04-05 March 2022 in Rabat.
The organization of this event also underscores the need to strengthen South-South cooperation ties and the joint work of legislative institutions in the midst of today's multidimensional and successive crises, as well as the firm conviction that South-South cooperation remains a strategic option for sustainable development and an essential lever for strengthening economic interests, human connections, integration, and inclusion within the global economy.
This conference will address current strategic themes and issues, foremost among which are the issues of development, economic transition, trade, investment, technology and innovation, energy, health, food, and water security. The conference will also address the elaboration and adoption of practical recommendations, proposals and decisions in the context of highlighting the role of national parliaments and regional and continental parliamentary unions in Africa, the Arab world and the Latin American, in promoting and strengthening strategic partnerships across all economic, social and humanitarian fields. The Conference's discussions will go according to the following three themes: First, "Strengthening Political Dialogue and Regional Security in Africa, The Arab World and Latin America for Peace, Stability, and Prosperity"; Second: "Achieving Economic Transformation, Regional Integration, and Shared Development: The Importance of Policies Linked to Strengthening Strategic Partnerships, Promoting Investment, Technology and Infrastructure, and Enhancing Competitive Capacities"; Third: "The triad of Sustainable Development - Energy - Environment".
